about matthew

At an early age, Matthew realized his passion was to perform. Born in New York City and raised in New Jersey, Matthew played football until his music teacher suggested that he take up cello and audition for the school musical, Into the Woods. Never one to pass up a new experience, he agreed and was immediately cast as The Baker - a role that would change his life. After finding his voice, Matthew sought out every opportunity to perform, whether at his high school, Dwight Englewood; with local, pre-professional theater companies; or by participating in productions that supported the Bergen PAC, Englewood Hospital, and various other charitable organizations in and around northern New Jersey. Ultimately, his musical journey brought him back to New York City, where he was accepted into and attended the prestigious pre-college vocal program at The Juilliard School, where the classical training that he received both enhanced and strengthened his baritone voice.

Matthew is currently working on his BFA in Musical Theater at the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music (CCM), where he continues his studies and training in singing, acting, and dancing. In addition to being a performer, Matthew has also begun to dabble in some behind-the-scenes work with make-up and wigs. Though he has learned that he would never make a good hairstylist, his work on the production side has deepened his appreciation for all those who contribute to making each and every musical, concert, and performance possible.

When not performing, Matthew can be found with his nose in a comic book. He is an avid Marvel fan, a lover of the American SongBook, loves a great burger with fries, and popcorn at the movies. Check back soon for the release of his first original song Love is Not My Friend!
